If you look up the meaning of retirement, you will find the following definitions:

Withdrawal from one’s position or occupation or from active working life.

The act of leaving your job and stopping working, usually because you are old.

The period in someone’s life after they have stopped working because of having reached a particular age.

Retirement, fundamentally, is when you leave the workforce behind.

You are probably in 100-percent agreement that retirement is about stopping working at a job. It is the end of actively working. But what if there is a far better definition of retirement? What if there is a definition that breaks all the restraints that we place on ourselves?

Retirement allows you to be the person you always wanted to be. But this definition of retirement can also include choosing to continue to work. Perhaps you will work fewer hours simply because you love your work. Or maybe you will choose a new type of work, such as writing or affiliate marketing. Whatever it is, it brings you joy that you did not have pre-retirement.

Of course, you may have always been that person, and if so, congratulations! However…

Sort of retired. I am obsessed with happiness. As I write the last chapter of the story of my life, I want to share ideas on being happy.
