So It Turns Out That Our Neighbor Who Died Alone Without Family Was Also a Millionaire
It was a surprise to everyone
Have you read the book The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko? In a nutshell, the book describes the average millionaire as the ordinary next-door neighbor who lives in a modest house and drives an old truck. This neighbor shops at discount stores and stays at home during vacation time. No one will have any clue that they are millionaires unless you get a peek at their bank account.
Then there are the folks you might see wearing designer clothes and driving new cars. They might look like a millionaire but are often riddled with debt.
I written about our neighbor before. He was a grumpy man who lived alone in a two-story house that was perfect for a family. There was a pool in the backyard. There was a sports car sitting in the garage and a truck in the driveway.
As time went by, I noticed that the house was becoming shabby. The pool was eventually abandoned and became a breeding ground for mosquitoes and bullfrogs.
The truck was becoming shabby as well, but it ran. There was an abandoned sports car in the driveway and a newer one in the garage. He had stopped driving it.
