The Big Mistake the ‘Golden Bachelor’ Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist Made

Finding love later in life often means thinking outside the box

Everyone — OK, not everyone, but many people — is talking about how Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner and his wife of three months, Theresa Nist, are divorcing.

As the 72-year-old dad and grandfather told Good Morning America,

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we’ve looked closely at our situation — our living situation — and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s time for us to dissolve our marriage. … The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us are to our families … So we look at these situations and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to, to live apart.”

I don’t have much faith in the “reality” of reality TV. That said, as I wrote before the series first aired last September before we knew which “lucky” woman would end up being Gerry’s bride,
