The Five Books I Read and Liked the Least in 2024

Recently retired, I read seventy books last year

My article about my ten favorite reads went over so well that I wondered how a different approach to book reviews would fare.

In 2024, newly retired, I had set myself the goal of reading fifty books. I ended up reading seventy and thought telling people about my experience would be fun. Here, in no particular order, are the reads I would not recommend (maybe). Some of these books have specific problems that ruin the read, and sometimes, the whole book is just wrong. I set out to find ten but can only bring myself to mention these five.

Remember that my reviews are subjective and prone to reflect my tastes, background, reading history, and many other things. Someone else may strongly object to my comments, but that’s ok. We are all different.

It was hard to come up with negative comments about these books. For one thing, if they were really, really bad, I wouldn't even read them, and hence, they wouldn’t make my list. Remember that all of these books were good enough that I read them to the end.
