The Inevitability of the Pill Caddy
There is no escape, no matter who you are
Welcome to your fabulous 50s! This is the decade where wisdom meets wit, and where your medicine cabinet starts to look like a mini-pharmacy. If you’re over 50, chances are you’ve got a collection of pills that could rival a small-town drugstore. Enter the pill caddy, the unsung hero of your post-50 lifestyle.
I got my first pill caddy when I was 52. It contained my first maintenance pill — Fenofibrate for my cholesterol. Next came the blood pressure pill Losartan. This was to be expected because high blood pressure runs in my family.
After being diagnosed with osteoporosis last year, I now take a calcium supplement along with a vitamin D pill, while also getting a yearly Reclast® infusion. Finally, due to my constant job-induced (or lack of job) anxiety, I recently started taking a low dose of Sertraline.
A pill caddy is a game-changer for several reasons. First, it helps with organization overload. Remembering to take your meds can be a challenge, especially when you’re juggling multiple prescriptions. A pill caddy keeps everything in one place, neatly organized by day, and even time, if needed. No more wondering if you took your cholesterol pill or blood pressure meds.
