Things You Took For Granted In Your 20s That Are Unthinkable Now
At least they are for me
Do you remember your 20s? The years when we felt untouchable. The years that we thought would never come to an end.
We were indestructible, or so we thought.
They were times I remember with enormous fondness as I recall all the things I did that took for granted before age crept up and started to take its toll.
Getting by on a few hours of sleep
When I first started teaching, money was tight. I got myself a second job to boost my money. The job I got was in a nightclub, four nights a week, Monday to Thursday from 8:00 pm until 1:00 am.
It meant I didn’t get home till about 2 am and got by on about 4 hours of sleep a night for months. As long as I had at least one good night’s sleep a week I was fine.
These days, I’m cranky and tired all day if I have to get up early once a week.
Staying up till the early hours
This goes hand in hand with not needing as much sleep. These days, I’m rarely up at 11:00 pm and normally get to bed by 10:00 or 10.30.
The idea of a late night fills me with dread because I know I’ll suffer for it the next day.
