Think you’re too old for TikTok? Think again. TikTok is Gen Z’s avocado on toast. It is the fabric of their days. It’s safe to say that it’s their safe space (until it’s not, of course). But Gen Zers aren’t the only ones getting some traction on America’s favorite app.

Take Zaijia Xu for example. Coming in at 735.9k followers, this legend calls himself @grandpasostrong. And we can’t blame him. Whether he’s performing cigarette swallowing tricks, hiding his cauliflower from the opps, or schooling Gen Zers on fighting pointless Tik Tok wars (because he’s lived through actual wars), this icon gets the respect he deserves and is arguably one of the funniest men on this app. He is what we all aspire to be at that age: completely unbothered.

A personal favorite, 82-year old Annie Korzen, AKA the Cranky New Yorker (@akorzen), comes in at 223k followers and 2.2 million likes. This NYC native gives dating and life wisdom all youngins should hear and often shares her love of vibrant furniture and fashion. Her videos are the perfect bite-sized, in-your-face advice, peppered with cuss words and a New York accent. To no surprise, Korzen has a background in acting. According to this LA Times article, she has appeared on “Seinfeld,” “Why Women Kill” and “PEN15,” among others. With the help of her 30-year-old BFF, everyone seems to agree: her straightforward nature and humor are a breath of fresh air on the app.

We know a ton of D’amelio followers that got the moves on this app. But does your dad have the moves? Well, this 59-year old dad sure does. Dennis Appel of @dadsgotmoves hailing from New Jersey went viral by simply dancing on his Tik Tok. With 158.7k followers, this man can brighten anyone’s day. He attributes his passion and knack for dancing to growing up in the 80s and going out dancing since he was around 14 years old, according to the My Two Cents podcast. Who doesn’t love a wholesome dad just trying to make people smile?

Last but not least, the hottest dancing couple on Tik Tok right now: happily married Joan & Jimmy (@twojays2). With 682.6K followers, you can already guess they’ve got the moves. The couple has been married for 48 years, and they still manage to completely kill it at Bollywood-inspired dances, the jive and owning Tik Tok dancing trends together.

For an app run by and created for people mainly in their 20’s, seeing the older generations getting attention is a whole new level of inspiration. It is the essence of wholesomeness. Something we all need more of whilst scrolling.
