It’s an uphill climb for sure

Recently my husband was let go from his job. He is 66 years old, but he says that he’s not ready to retire.

Believe it or not, we still have kids at home, including a 17-year-old who is still in high school. Retirement was not in his plans.

As my husband is finishing up his last two weeks at his current job, I’ve been doing some research to help him get started in his job search. We know it will be an uphill climb for him to find a job due to his age.

He’s already sent in a resume for a local job. He was approached by them first, but once he sent in the required paperwork, things have been quiet. We don’t know if they aren’t in a hurry to fill the position or if, instead, they are put off by his age.

There’s no way around his age. His experience alone shows that he’s been in his line of work for a long time. We all know that it’s illegal to discriminate against someone because of their age. We all know that it’s done all of the time. It’s exactly the reason he is being let go from his current job.

I was looking at a job posted online, and here is their blurb about discrimination.
