Have you ever noticed how some things that seem coincidental can’t be explained?

I recently received an email from a restaurant my wife and I visit occasionally. It was an offer for a $10 discount on lunch. I mentioned it to my wife and we decided to take advantage of the offer.

We went to the restaurant and ordered our lunch dishes and two drinks. While we were waiting, I said to my wife, “You know, I don’t think I’m going to use the $10 coupon. This restaurant has great food at reasonable prices and the service is always good. Why not pay full price? We can certainly afford it.” She agreed.

Then the server brought our lunch dishes but not the drinks. After a while, it became obvious that our drinks were forgotten. We asked the server about them and he apologized and brought us the two drinks. He then said, “I’m really sorry we forgot about your drinks. I’m going to give you twenty percent off your bill.” I remarked that it was very kind of him.

When we finished our lunch and received the bill, as promised, the server had taken twenty percent off. The amount of the discount? It was exactly $10!

Coincidence or…?
