Hello. My name is Ann. And I never used to vote.

I’m sure many of you might be surprised by my confession. But as a young stay-at-home mother, raising a family was more than a full-time job. Add to the fact that we could only afford one car and that said car was normally parked at my spouse’s work during regular business hours — voting was more than massively inconvenient.

It was damn near impossible.

And truthfully, back in those days, I don’t believe I had the space in my brain to hold one more single detail. Attempting to balance all the regular events of my life felt a lot like the visual this meme inspires:

Back in those days, I couldn’t have told you who was running for what, because, mostly — it didn’t matter much. Democrats would get elected, they’d mess up or not deliver on their campaign promises so the next election would find a Republican in office. Also — We, The People — hardly ever gave control of both Congress and the Oval Office to the same…
