Sometimes I feel like giving up on my mother-in-law. At 93, she is on a downhill slide, sleeping more than anything, and when she’s awake, she stares at the television or hopes to be fed.

She doesn’t have Alzheimer’s or dementia, but an impaired memory from a stroke 10 years ago…
