For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a petrolhead.

There’s simply nothing like the feeling of maxing out each gear, smelling the exhaust fumes and coming around a corner sideways at ninety miles an hour at the very edge of control.

I may sound like an expert, but the truth is, it wasn’t until my 52nd year that I finally decided to take the plunge and give it a go, despite having absolutely no racing experience.

After all, it’s just driving fast. How hard could it be?

The decision is made

In November of 2022, I’d travelled to El Salvador with a small, family-owned racing team to seek sponsorship of the cars via their Department of Tourism. This was the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, and since we were the Bitcoin Racing team, the partnership seemed appropriate. Fortunately, they agreed.

All we needed now was enough drivers.

We were entering one car in the Porsche Carrera Challenge, one car in the Vertu Mini Challenge (both races being part of the premier Touring Cars package that you see on TV), and four cars in the Nankang City Car Cup. All would race under the Bitcoin Racing banner.
