Why Wasn’t I Born Italian?
This was my desire while growing up in North Jersey during the 1950s.
In the town I grew up in, Paramus, New Jersey, you either were Irish or Italian. I was neither. I was of Norwegian descent. The parochial school I went to had names ending in an “i,” “o,” or “io.” Where did I fit in being an Olsen?
