It is more than a day at the beach or a trip to a casino. It’s not a BBQ, fireworks display, or afternoon at a waterpark.

It’s a day when the entire country should take a breath and shed a tear or two for those who have died for our freedom.

Memorial Day is dedicated to remembering those who have fallen in the service of our country.

That’s it. There is nothing more that needs to be said.

The day should never be forgotten, and our men and women in uniform should always be remembered. One day out of the year, acknowledging those who have died in action with a moment of silence, a visit to a National Cemetery, or a reverent moment in the quiet of your surroundings is not much to ask.

However, Memorial Day has become synonymous with Memorial Day Weekend. As a holiday weekend, it is dedicated to the beginning of summer.
