Everything about Darlene was artificial but it was the way she talked that triggered homicidal daydreams. Coming to my mama’s house out of conditioned holiday obligation was a habit I was trying to break and I am quite sure murdering her favorite friend would probably be the quickest way to get uninvited. Smiling, I start planning her very detailed and drawn out murder.
“What are you smiling about over there? Care to share with the rest of the table?” she simpered.
Someone who wants attention this badly should really be more careful of the company she keeps.
