Six months later.
“For the crime of breaking the Laws of The Great Pact, by a vote of 2 to 1, the Immortal Tribunal has sentenced you, goddess Erotia, to live a mortal life from age 25 till that life’s natural expiration. If you try to end that life prematurely by your own hands, you must live another entire mortal life from birth to death ignorant of your immortal nature. If you engage in dangerous behavior that results in the untimely death of your mortal body, you must live another entire mortal life ignorant of your immortal nature. If you try to find a loophole and have your immortality restored prematurely, your mortal body will be hunted down and killed, and then you must live another entire mortal life ignorant of your immortal nature. Do you understand these terms?” says the Speaker of the Tribunal, Beelzebub. He seems a little too full of himself, even though the three judges are chosen by lot. The other two — goddess of wisdom Sophia and the West African justice goddess Ayelala — remain silent.
Erotia nods. “I do.” She wonders which of the three voted against punishment. She squeezes Attis’s hand, who is six months pregnant with their immortal child, also in violation of The Great Pact. She’s wearing an oversized dress to hide her belly. If the tribunal discovers she’s with child, she could be punished too, as well as further punishment leveled against Erotia.
“Then by the power of this Tribunal, your sentence will commence immediately. May this punishment be the absolution of your crime against the gods.”
