It was just a word. Short, sweet and for most people it seemed easy enough to say. Yet for her it was the hardest.
Love. What did it really mean anyway?
He used the word with such ease. Telling her every day how much he loved her, their children and the life they shared together.
She knew how love was meant to feel, she had felt it before, just not with him. Wrought with guilt, she sought for it desperately, afraid there was something wrong with her.
In the past, she had always looked for love in the wrong places which had left her heart in pieces. Then he had come along and picked up the pieces, sticking them back together.
Yet hidden deeply beneath the gilded cracks, a broken woman remained.
