I never expected to feel jealousy, we’ve been friends forever, inseparable since we were kids. The year we turned 12 I got boobs and periods, and you got a growth spurt and a crack in your voice, it made no difference, we were still just us.
At 16, we wondered if it was more than friendship, so we shared one awkward kiss just to make sure. But tonight I saw you look at her in a way you’ve never looked at me, like she’s a piece of you you didn’t realise was missing, and I just can’t compete with that.
