Twelve Hours of Alex — Part One

Georgia and I met on our first day of university and had been pretty much inseparable ever since. Georgia and Matt happened not much later — they met on the second day of university and proved to everyone that insta-love was a very real thing, and also that as their roomie, I needed some good quality ear plugs.

Georgia, Matt, and Mia — People laughed about us being a throuple, but we were just a little family, it had never been like that. We loved hanging out together, but I always knew when to give them their space. I hadn’t gone to university to party or fall in love, I’d gone to do the best I could, and nobody held their head higher than me on graduation day when I got my first-class honours in veterinary science. All that focus had been so worth it.

Matt indicated for the next exit as we finally left the motorway and stopped at some lights. Georgia leaned over and planted a brief kiss on his lips before the car thrummed at biting point and our journey continued.

“I’m going to be the only single one there, aren’t I? Third wheel.”

“I doubt it.” Georgia scoffed. “But I bet you’re the most successful. Ten years since we graduated and you own a chain of veterinary practices. I know you’re the only one with a radio show too.”
