Unforgettable; Chapter One: Night Out
He was down on his luck, and she needed a shining white knight; they both needed more.
“You look like you needed that,” the bartender said.
“Yeah,” I sighed as I looked at the empty glass. “Rough two weeks.”
“Another?” he asked.
“Sure, why not,” I replied.
He refilled it and went on his way.
First, I found out that my wife of ten years had been cheating on me with my brother and that the son I had been raising for the past seven years was his and not mine. Then I got laid off from work.
Putting it all together and making things make sense had been rough. I stared into the glass and put it to my mouth.
“Thanks,” I said as I paid my tab.
I wasn’t about to spend half my paycheck on alcohol, especially since I didn’t have a job at the moment.
“There you are!” A dark-skinned lady with long black hair approached me.
