Crust and Subsocial Announce Partnership
We are pleased to announce that Crust Network and Subsocial will collaborate together to offer decentralized cloud storage solutions to Subsocial users worldwide.
People started looking at decentralized social networking to have more control over their data. At the same time, they don’t want to bother with managing servers that store their posts, images, and videos. There could be gigabytes of data per user if we are talking about video-sharing social networks. But somebody should take care of all these users’ data. That’s why it’s so important to have a decentralized storage marketplace integrated into the Subsocial network. With the help of Crust Network, Subsocial plans to provide their users with a smooth experience of managing their data in a truly transparent and censorship-resistant way. It is very beneficial that as both Crust and Subsocial networks are built on Substrate — this allows them to be easily integrated.
Crust Network is excited about the cooperation and looks forward to exploring new and exciting ways that cloud storage solutions can be deployed in the social networking industry.
Subsocial is an open protocol for decentralized social networking. It’s built on Polkadot and IPFS tech stack and this means that the protocol is upgradeable (Substrate), censorship-resistant (IPFS) and allows its users to use any crypto, supported by Polkadot ecosystem. You can think of Subsocial as a decentralized version of Reddit or Medium, where subreddits and blogs run on their own chain.
Subsocial is a recipient of the technical grant from Web3 Foundation. And it is one of the first 17 projects that have been carefully selected by Parity to participate in the Substrate Builders Program.
Crust implements the incentive layer protocol for decentralized storage. It is adaptable to multiple storage layer protocols such as IPFS, and provides support for the application layer. Crust’s architecture also has the capability of supporting a decentralized computing layer and building a decentralized cloud ecosystem.
At present, public testnet Maxwell CC2 is live, and welcomes everyone to join for testing. Crust Network successively joined Substrate Builders Program and Web3.0 Bootcamp, and also obtained a Web3 Foundation Grant.
