Crust Awards Grant to Yoghourt Cloud for IPFS Network Optimization and Upgrades
Crust Network, a leader in decentralized storage solutions, is proud to announce its latest partnership with Yoghourt Cloud through the Crust Grants Program. This initiative aims to optimize and enhance the functionality of the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), furthering the decentralized web’s scalability and usability.
Grant Overview
As part of the Crust Grants Program, Yoghourt Cloud will receive funding from Crust Network to support their ongoing development efforts. Yoghourt Cloud is a decentralized storage platform that enables users to store and share files securely using the IPFS protocol. With Crust’s grant, the platform will focus on improving both the storage and retrieval processes on the IPFS network, delivering faster, more reliable file access for end-users.
The collaboration between Crust and Yoghourt Cloud seeks to address key challenges in decentralized storage, such as improving data availability, reducing latency, and enhancing user experience across distributed systems. By working together, both projects are poised to push the boundaries of IPFS technology and increase the adoption of decentralized file storage.
Objectives of the Grant Project
The primary goals of this grant project include:
- Enhanced IPFS Storage Solutions: Yoghourt Cloud will leverage Crust’s advanced storage architecture to develop more efficient storage management techniques for IPFS. This involves upgrading storage protocols and optimizing retrieval speeds for better overall performance.
- Decentralized Storage Integration: The project will integrate Crust’s decentralized storage capabilities into Yoghourt Cloud, allowing users to access a robust, scalable solution for their data storage needs. This collaboration is designed to improve the interoperability between IPFS and Crust’s storage layer.
- User-Friendly Upgrades: As a result of this grant, Yoghourt Cloud will implement features that improve the user experience, such as faster file uploads, smoother retrievals, and optimized resource allocation across nodes.
- Strengthening the IPFS Ecosystem: By focusing on shared development and innovation, the partnership will help grow and stabilize the IPFS ecosystem, benefiting a broader range of decentralized applications (dApps) that rely on IPFS for their storage needs.
The Yoghourt Cloud team is currently working on the following developments and optimizations as part of the Crust Grant project:
- Kubo Research and Optimization: The team is studying the Kubo source code and adapting it to the Crust network to improve the stability of the upload cache layer. Through code and configuration optimizations, they aim to address the instability of the public gateway’s upload cache layer and increase the success rate of replica retrieval by miner nodes.
- Load Balancing: The team is designing and implementing a load-balancing system for gateway upload requests based on users’ geographic locations and gateway resource utilization to ensure efficient network operation.
- Automated Node Configuration: By detecting and analyzing machine hardware resources, the team will implement automatic IPFS node configuration adjustments to maximize hardware performance and improve node response efficiency. Once verified, this setup could be extended to miner nodes.
- Gateway Management System: The team will develop a gateway management system to allow administrators to efficiently manage third-party gateways. This system will include node management, monitoring, configuration, and image updates.
