Crust hopes that more and more people can understand and use Crust for file storage through the “Profit Data” activity. During this activity, users that store files and stake CSM can earn corresponding CRU rewards. The specific rules of the activity are as follows, please read carefully before participating:

Activity Glossary

Data Provider: An activity role, obtain data computing power by storing files, thereby obtaining CRU rewards. This is suitable for users with large storage needs.

Data Power: The size of the file stored by the data provider and the number of copies determine the data computing power, which is an important calculation parameter for rewards.

Data Guarantor: An activity role, share CRU rewards by providing CSM guarantee stake for data computing power.

CSM Stake Limit: CSM stake limit is determined by data computing power, and stake limit per TB of data computing power is 10,000 CSM.

  • The stake ratio will be adjusted according to the activity, and the stake limit shall be subject to the actual requirements of the activity.
  • As of November 2021, the ratio is 1 TB :166,778CSM.

CSM Total Stake: The total number of CSM staked on a certain data computing power. If the CSM total stake exceeds the CSM stake limit, the part that exceeds the CSM stake limit will not generate rewards.

CSM Effective Stake: CSM Effective Stake = min (CSM Total Stake, CSM Stake Limit), which is an important calculation parameter for obtaining rewards.

Activity Time and Rewards

Activity Start Date: June 25th, 2021

Activity Duration: 180 Days

Rewards Distribution Plan:

Rewards are settled once per Era (6 hours), 4 times a day, and the rewards will be distributed according to the ratio of the effective stake of the user’s CSM to the effective stake of the entire network.

Activity Participation Process

Activity Rules Description

The user can only choose a role between the data provider and the data guarantor, and can still switch freely after selection, feel free to operate:

1. Data Provider Rules Description

The data provider can obtain the corresponding data power by storing files. The bound CSM will automatically stake the full amount on its own data power. At the same time, the data power will also be displayed in the activity list, accepting the CSM guarantee stake from others. The reward will be calculated based on the CSM effective stake on the data power.

How to Become a Data Provider

On the “Profit Data” page, click “Account actions” and choose “Data Provider”.

Bond the CSM that is going to participate in the activity. It takes 7 days to unbond the CSM. Please consider carefully before bonding. If the data provider doesn’t have CSM, the “value bonded” can be set as “0”.

Confirm the “value bonded” and click “next” to enter the guarantee fee setting page.

The setting range of the guarantee fee is 0%-100%, and the guarantee fee modification interval is 3 days. If the data provider does not have enough CSM to stake, they can set the guarantee fee to attract data guarantors to provide CSM guarantee stake. The guarantee fee determines the proportion of the CRU reward shared by the data guarantor.

Click “Bond & Validate” to initiate an onchain transaction.

How to Store Files

Use the decentralized storage market (DSM) on Crust Apps to place an order for file storage. It is recommended that the size of a single order file be less than 10GB, in order to complete the storage as soon as possible.

Check the user guide for file storage: https://wiki.crust.network/docs/en/storageUserGuide

How to Get Data Power

When the number of copies of the file stored by the data provider in the Crust network exceeds 25, the data power can be obtained, and the data power corresponds to the size of the stored file. The data power needs to be deduplicated and filtered by the system first, and the duplicate files generated with “washing” behavior will be excluded, which will take effect after 2–3 Eras.

Please note that if the file is repeatedly ordered, the data power belongs to the data provider who placed the first order, and the data power cannot be obtained for the subsequent orders. In addition, files with a similarity higher than 95% will be regarded as duplicate files. Duplicate files cannot obtain data power repeatedly, and only the first order file will be regarded as an effective file.

How to Obtain Rewards

The system will calculate the rewards in each Era, please find the reward calculation rules below. The number of rewards will be displayed on the user’s activity page. There are no additional operations for users. The system will automatically transfer the rewards to the user’s account every 7 days.

2. Data Guarantor Rules Description

The user will become a data guarantor after selecting the guarantee object and completing the CSM guarantee stake. The data guarantor does not own the data power, but shares the CRU rewards by providing a CSM guarantee stake for the data power of others. Find the reward calculation rules below. The data guarantor can only choose to provide a CSM guarantee stake for a certain data power. Once the selection is completed, the bound CSM will be fully staked. Reward collection rules are the same as above.

How to Become a Data Guarantor

Select the appropriate guarantee object in the provider list and click the icon to copy the address.

On the “Profit Data” page, click “Account actions” and choose “Data Guarantor”.

Bond the CSM that is going to participate in the activity. It takes 7 days to unbond the CSM. Please consider carefully before bonding.

Confirm the “value bonded” and click “next” to enter the guarantor object page.

You can directly paste the previously copied address in the input box, or select the object you want to guarantee in the list.

Click “Bond & Guarantee” to initiate an onchain transaction.

3. Activity Roles Switching

If the user is not satisfied with the current role, please re-select the role. The CSM bound to the user will also be staked in accordance with the new role rules. The operation will not affect the reward in the current Era, and the re-selected role will be effective in the next Era.

If you are currently a data provider, you can switch to a data guarantor by selecting a guarantor. After you complete the re-selection, the data power held by the provider will disappear from the display list. The CSM that was staked on the data power of others will also be invalidated.

If you are currently a data guarantor, you can switch to a data provider by setting the “guarantee fee”. After you complete the reselection, the CSM that was staked on the data power of others will be transferred to your own data power.

4. Add and Unbond CSM

When the user wants to bond extra CSM, please click “Bond extra” to operate.

When the user wants to withdraw funds from the activity, please click “Unbond funds” to operate. It takes 7 days to unbond CSM. The CSM that is being unbounded will appear in the list. After that, please click “Withdraw unbound funds” to withdraw.

CRU Reward Calculation Rules

Assuming that the data provider has 1TB of data power, the own CSM effective stake of the data provider is 7,000 CSM, and the data guarantor has an effective stake of 3,000 CSM by setting the guarantee fee. At the same time, assuming that the total CSM effective stake of the entire network is 5,000,000, The relevant information is shown as below:

Then, at this time, the reward of 1TB data power in the current Era:

(D/T) * A = (10,000/5,000,000) * 100 = 0.2CRU

Among the rewards shared by the data guarantor:

(G/D) * R * 0.2 CRU = (3,000/10,000) * 30% * 0.2 CRU = 0.018 CRU

The remaining rewards belong to the data provider:

0.2 CRU — 0.018 CRU = 0.182 CRU

The rules of this activity may be adjusted according to the actual operation. The final interpretation rights belong to the Crust technical team.
