CRV Expands Investment Team, Welcomes New Security Startups and Engages with Top Tier Journalists
By Team CRV
Summer typically serves up long days and a more relaxed pace. For Team CRV, the last few months have been anything but breezy. In fact, they’ve been action packed.
Our blockbuster summer began with welcoming a number of new companies to the CRV family including two amazing security focused companies: ProjectDiscovery (an open source provider specializing in the detection of new, exploitable vulnerabilities) and Astrix (which enables CISOs to secure non-human identities and generative AI connections).
This month our team hosted a future of work roundtable with executives from a number of CRV backed businesses (Cribl, Iterable, Mercury Vercel) and journalists from Insider and SF Examiner. Speaking of the media, our deep bench of investors (three of whom secured spots on this year’s Forbes’ Midas List of the World’s Best Venture Capital Investors) are having loads of interesting conversations with journalists:
- Discussing AI agents and the evolving landscape of AI tech with likes of Insider, Reuters and The Information.
- Chatting about the importance of business software with The Wall Street Journal.
- Debating the merits of open and closed AI systems with Axios.
- Ruminating on venture capital returns performance with The Wall Street Journal.
- Conversing about hot topics like generative AI with Insider.
…and it’s not just reporters we’ve been engaging with. This year our team has been active at industry events like Black Hat, Founders You Should Know and RSA in addition to hosting our own events like our first CRV Agent Hackathon, a cybersecurity dinner and our own women in AI event. We also hosted dozens of leading AI founders, operators and thinkers to discuss where consumer AI might be heading.
With how hot cybersecurity and consumer AI have been, we’re thrilled to expand our team:
- Matan Lamdan joins our well established security team (and has mastered a mean award winning matcha cheesecake recipe).
- Ipshita Agarwal has a fondness for all things Harry Potter and will explore the exciting world of consumer AI and marketplaces alongside Saar Gur and Vivian Cheng.
Given our firm’s focus on leading early rounds in groundbreaking Seed and Series A companies, we love sharing key learnings with our family of CRV companies, entrepreneurs and the next generation of investors. Whether it’s info on:
- How to Build a Defensible AI Startup
- Tips on Building a Vertical SaaS Business
- Insights Regarding the Business Plans of Generative AI-Native OSS Companies
We look forward to lots of interesting future blog posts from our two newest team members. (Matan and Ipshita may want to cruise through the year one in VC at CRV post for a few pointers from their colleagues Veronica Orellana, Chiraag Deora and Brian Zhan.)
Given Matan’s work in the national intelligence arena and Ipshita’s experiences founding her own consumer social startup, we are thrilled to have both of them joining us and look forward to this dynamic duo special moments with our founders and their companies over the years to come. If you’re a founder actively building in one of the spaces we noted above, get to know our team and feel free to reach out to Matan, Ipshita or another one of our talented investors.
