We met Kong founders, Augusto Marietti and Marco Palladino, back in 2009 when they were still developing their first ideas for the company and invested in their seed round. Their drive and determination were clear from day one and were excited to lead the company’s series A back in 2013 round. We have grown with them through the seed stage to today’s Series C announcement.
Over the years, Augusto and Marco have remained focused on their vision of enabling an API-first economy. They launched Kong, the popular open source API gateway in 2015 and every since the company has seen record growth. Today, Kong has become the most widely adopted open-source microservice API gateway. We have watched them help Global 5000 companies transform themselves into digital enterprises and Kong has emerged as the platform to help them manage decentralized hybrid and multi-cloud “always on” architectures.
We’re proud to be a part of Kong’s Series C round today. It’s been inspiring to watch their growth and success as they work to solve this deeply technical challenge. At CRV, we believe that the industry is in the early stages of a massive paradigm shift in computing. We are excited to see what lies ahead for Kong as the world moves towards Aghi and Marco’s original vision of being the enablers of API-first,cloud-native architectures.
