Most of today’s popular consumer apps create inherently isolating experiences. While scrolling through photos on Instagram or struggling through levels of Candy Crush may alleviate your boredom, neither promotes real connections with others in a meaningful way. We’re looking for new platforms that take advantage of the true magic of smartphones — the ability to connect anyone, anywhere, in real time to enable live and shared experiences.
We’ve seen a few early success stories in delivering live, interactive content, notably HQ Trivia, China’s wildly popular livestreaming apps, and Pokemon Go. We believe that a wave of new mobile platforms will emerge that fulfill consumer demand for more social and collaborative experiences on mobile, and allow all users to become participants who are able to shape an experience rather than just consume content.
