It’s no secret that CRV loves investing in everything early stage. Oftentimes the companies we partner with are only a few weeks old (DoorDash) or even pre-idea (Cribl).

A perfect pairing for us every year involves bringing the best and the brightest from across the CRV family together with members of the media over tastings of the latest vintage of Beaujolais Nouveau.

The vibrant and cheerful wine is known for being unfussy and also a harbinger of what this year’s release might mean for vintages across the region.

Despite threats of a bomb cyclone and an atmospheric river on the horizon, turnout for this year’s event was just as strong, if not even stronger, than in prior years. (Attendees might recall that last year’s Beaujolais Bash fell on the same date that President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping of China popped by the Bay Area for the APEC summit.)

Thankfully neither bad weather, congested traffic nor world leaders rolling into town ever seems to impact the desire for these two groups to gather together the third Thursday of every November.

Journalists joined us from Bloomberg, CNBC, Reuters, The Information, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. We also had executives from Cribl, Mercury, Vercel, Arcade, Browserbase, Cribl, GreyNoise, Impart Security, LanceDB and Northspyre swishing and swirling along with us. CRV general partners Murat Bicer, Saar Gur, Brittany Walker and James Green were also in attendance.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a wine best enjoyed immediately, or within a matter of weeks, after the local harvest wine is released. The release date also just happens to coincide perfectly with CRV’s birthday and 2024 marks our 54th year in business.

Discussions during the festive evening ranged from what the IPO window might look like towards the end of the year, presidential appointments, the Department of Justice versus Google and, of course, AI.

As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday season, our annual Beaujolais Bash gave us an opportunity to be grateful for the many talented partners we get to collaborate and work with across the broader tech ecosystem.
