Call for Submissions — How do you express your womanhood through your art?
We’re about halfway through Woman’s History Month being celebrated in the U.S. I’ve been thinking about the history of women and their contributions to literature and art over the decades.
From my perspective — male, Black, straight — it seems what it means to be a woman has changed so much. My curiosity leads me to wonder how that difference is expressed through art, specifically writing.
For this week’s writing prompt, tell me how you express your womanhood through your art. Is this even something you do? Do you feel external or cultural pressure to express your womanhood in a specific way?
Same rules as always:
- You can submit to this or ANY of our past writing prompts. Just scroll through our previous newsletters. They’ll be marked “Call for Submissions.”
- If you’re already a writer for CRY, go ahead and submit.
- Be as creative as you want in your submissions. As long as you stick to the topic, we’ll consider it.
- Just because you submit doesn’t mean we’ll post. If you haven’t heard back from us in three days, consider that a pass.
