Introducing Cryptage Origins — a card collection and idle strategy game powered by the Blockchain
Welcome to Cryptage, a not-so-distant future where blockchain technology has conquered the world and passing of time is no longer measured in minutes, but ETH blocks. Are you ready to build your blockchain venture and rise to the top of this dystopian cryptopunk world?
Crypage Origins is the first in a series of games taking place in this future world. It is a fusion of idle strategy and card trading, a simulation of blockchain venture development in the future — a blockchain tycoon, if you will, and it runs completely on the Ethereum Blockchain.
You start the game as a rookie at level 1 with limited resources at hand, just a few cards in your set, but play them right and you’ll quickly surge through the next levels, winning bonus cards and achievements as you progress. There are currently 45 unique collectible cards in the game, including various locations, characters, projects, mining equipment and booster cards, all of which vary in rarity.
Can I play now?
Absolutely, the public beta of Cryptage Origins is currently available, up and running on the Kovan Ethereum test network, so feel free to jump in and join the fun! The only requirement to get started is MetaMask and one of the browsers it’s compatible with (we recommend Chrome, but Firefox, Vivaldi and Opera will work, too). In case you don’t have any KETH for a bonus deck of cards or two, you can stop by our faucet and get some.
Our goal with Cryptage Origins is to make a blockchain-based game that is fun to play, but even more so to utilize bleeding edge technology and push it even further. But we’ll talk more about the technologies we used and developed here at Decenter in one of the future articles.
From the gameplay perspective, we are currently working on fine tuning of the user interface and overall gameplay mechanics, as well as preparing the achievements system and card trading marketplace. We don’t want to give too much of the current gameplay mechanics away, as discovering things on your own will be far more interesting, but here’s one tip for you — try stacking duplicate cards with currently active cards to level them up😉
