Massive App update: new backend in partnership with BitGo and Jumio

We’ve been keeping it a secret for a while to surprise you with a major App update. Now it’s time to tell you what’s new with your favorite wallet.

Most importantly, we are moving to a new backend built in partnership with BitGo, a blockchain security company backed by Goldman Sachs and trusted by market leaders, like Kraken, CME Group and Pantera Capital. And there’s more: we are releasing our first cards, implementing major improvements to the identity verification process, integrating with Top 10 exchanges to get you the best rates on the market, and — we know you’ve been waiting for it — updating our App’s design.

Why the hassle?

New backend means faster transactions. Together with BitGo we’ve made sure the new version of the Crypterium App runs smoothly and gets rid of all the problems with delays some of our users were experiencing. Feel free to try it out, we bet you’d like the increased speed.

The new backend will also help us run the smoothest card transactions. We’ve already received around 7,000 requests for the first global crypto card, and we are eager to give our cardholders a topnotch experience.

The new solution also offers an increased level of security. Your wallet addresses will become untraceable via blockchain: we don’t want anyone to know too much about your transactions by just checking them online.

In the new version of the App, you’ll see the first screens of the updated design. Check out the history section — that’s what we decided to update first. The following updates will carry even more UX/UI improvements so that by April we introduce not only the fastest but also the most beautiful wallet on the market. Our developers and designers worked hard to make sure you enjoy what you see on the screen.

Finally, we are beginning to implement the new identity verification process built in partnership with Jumio, a well-known market leader in digital ID verification. The new flow will significantly improve your customer experience and simplify the onboarding of new app users.

Some VERY important notes

Transition to the new backend will take some time, but, believe us, it’s worth the wait. We’re going to implement all the mentioned changes step by step in the course of four weeks starting Tuesday, March 5. Important note #1: the App will be under maintenance on that day. Once the new version is released, we’ll notify you in our social media channels. You will have to update the App to continue using it as old versions won’t be supported any longer.

Important note #2: once we move to the new backend, your wallet addresses will change, and the old ones wouldn’t be active anymore. Please double check your addresses before you top up your account.

Moving services one by one means that some of them will be released later than the others. So the Important note #3 says that, unfortunately, some of our services — bank transfers, mobile top-ups and buying CRPT — will be unavailable for around two weeks. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and hope you have a Plan B on how to refill your phone balance for that time.
