Skill is what sets a novice apart from a, well, skilled player. Since battles in Cryptic Legends are automated, the main space where you can display your tactical thinking (besides equipping various and training your heroes — but more about that in further posts) is to assign skill points.

Skills are divided into three groups, or three trees as we like to confusingly call them: Stealth, Combat and Lore.

Each group of skills focuses on specific combat abilities, improving them or unlocking new options, like spells, which in Cryptic Legends are skills of the Lore tree.

When a hero advances a level, they get one skill point to upgrade any unlocked skills. Just pick a skill by tapping on it and the a pop up appears where you can tap on point slots to add or subtract points.

When enough skill points are invested in a single skill tree, new skills are unlocked.

Tactics stem from the fact that you can redistribute any skill points invested in a skill at any time except mid-battle. You can take skill points away from a skill to improve another — and you can do that right before a battle, by simply calling up your hero and swiping right to the skill screen.

Easily deducting and adding skill points to a skill is therefore of great importance for our game, and that is why for the pre-sale release we have made some pretty far-reaching improvements in the UI of the skill screen. Now available i.e. unspent and invested skill points are presented more clearly and you can see in the video above how easy it is to invest or deduce skill points.

And moreover, soon, the skill trees will be filled up with skill fruits — and it will be up to you to pick them.
