A popular user generated combination from this week

The past week and a half, our efforts have been focused on improving the user experience, making the website easy to use and facilitating user interaction. The two major pushes have been a complete UI refactor and setting up a fast caching solution. We’ve also been aiming to step up our social media presence to grow a following, as well as keeping in communication with Enigma and Decentraland.

1. UI Update

“Bitch, please” appears when a user enters in an insanely high buy amount

Felix has worked hard this past week and a half refactoring some of our components and improving the overall feel of the site. He fixed some UI bugs that were an annoyance, and added some fun little easter eggs like the one above. He updated the About Us page and the Guide page to be more sleek and informative. Overall the site just feels more professional this week thanks to these updates!

2. IPFS Caching

computer connecting to IPFS

The past week and a half my full efforts have been on making the site faster! My initial foray into caching improved our load times from about 30 seconds to 9 seconds, but that wasn’t fast enough, so I did a deep dive into how we could create a more robust caching system. I ended up creating an event caching script that runs separate from the Crypto Against Humanity website and stores a JSON file of all events that take place on our contract on an IPFS mutable file system. This allows us to store and read caching data all from IPFS. I’m happy to announce our load times are now near instant, taking <1 second to load. I plan on writing an article about this in the future. With our current event caching implementation we can update the site to have automatic price and balance updates without even refreshing the page! Exciting stuff to come!

3. Social Outreach

This past week and a half we’ve been stepping up our game on Twitter. We believe that our content is hilarious, and as we grow more users, and they contribute content, our website will become even more …refined :P. We have started this social outreach by posting funny combinations on our Twitter and responding to mentions. We are even hosting a contest for black card ideas on Cent.co! Even though we’re not ready for main-net launch, that doesn’t mean we can’t engage with people who share our vision and want to help make our dream a reality. So keep an eye out for more competitions and giveaways like this in the future!

4. Decentraland and Enigma

We are continuing to engage in game design discussions with Decentraland. We are very interested in the idea of bringing Crypto Against Humanity to the Decentraland game world as a long-term goal, so we had a very productive meeting with them this week about how our gameplay might function on Decentraland. We just started communications with Enigma, they are interested in providing our team with TCR Smart Contracts that contain private voting. Our first meeting was very productive, and there’s obvious value in a private voting for our TCR going forward.

That’s all for weeks 3 and 4! Stay tuned for more updates, and give CryptoAgainstHumanity.io a try if you haven’t got around to it yet!
