The AMD Radeon RX 5000 Series of GPUs

Modifying the BIOS of your video card has a number of uses such as increasing its capabilities for overclock via software tools, or permanently optimizing if with higher operating clocks, or making it more power efficient and silent in terms of operation and so on. With crypto mining, especially with AMD GPUs, however the goal is usually the permanent modification of the video memory timings in order for the video card to produce higher hashrate, though you can also extend the optimizations to ensure lower power consumption as well. When you modify the original video BIOS of your video card and flash it the new settings will be permanently used without the need to install and run any special software to do these on the fly every time you start the computer. This is the preferred solution when building mining rigs and you want them to run unattended on the long run with optimal hashrate and reduced power usage.

The process of modifying your video BIOS is not actually hard to do, there are a couple of steps you need to do and follow some important tips. Have in mind however that if you are not careful you may mess up things and cause yourself some serious headaches until you bring back everything back to normal and in operation (it can safely be restored in most of the cases). So, make sure you…
