For the past few days the twitterverse has been going amok with memes and sarcastic remarks about something called Gigamegs. It’s the latest “invention” of the self-proclaimed Bitcoin Ambassador Calvin Ayre that he blurped while doing an interview to promote scaling capacity of Bitcoin Cash Satoshi Vision (BSV) — a coin that he refers to as the “Original Bitcoin” mainly due to his personal vested interest in the project.

When explaining the current capacity of the BSV’s block size, Calvin went on to claim that in the next 5 months they anticipate a block increase to “500 megs and then between 1 and 2 gigamegs blocks” — a nonsensical jabber which didn’t go unnoticed by the bright and quick-to-call-you-out crypto fans who took to twitter in response.

In reality, there’s no such thing as a gigameg, the problem is most likely a slip of the tongue, since he was referring to megabytes as ‘megs’ and the next unit up is supposed to be a gigabyte but it turned into a ‘gigameg’ instead. However small the mistake could seem, the crypto community is unforgivable in their pursuit to out the scam artists and the fakery that is surrounding cryptocurrencies, and as a supposed Bitcoin Ambassador (which he is not) it is unacceptable to go on public record…
