Dogecoin, the meme-inspired crypto that’s been all the rage lately, is doing something pretty cool to fight the impact of crypto on the environment. Crypto mining — the process of creating new coins and verifying transactions — is a real energy hog. But Dogecoin is taking steps to change that by implementing new technologies that significantly reduce the energy consumption of its mining process.

It’s clear that Dogecoin is taking the environmental impact of crypto seriously, and that’s a positive sign for crypto, in general, given Dogecoin’s popularity. I hope that other cryptos will follow in its footsteps and take steps to reduce their energy consumption too. The crypto industry is still growing, so it’s important that we keep an eye on the energy consumption and work to reduce the impact on the environment.
