Bitcoin is a store of value like gold. Over the years the price of gold has increased significantly due to scarcity, while the value of a US Dollar has decreased due to inflation (banks printing new money). Bitcoin is also scarce and created by miners rewarded for verifying new bitcoin transactions. Bitcoin’s anti-inflation mechanism is called a halving, which is approaching near May 2020 occurs every 4 years).

Halving is when the mining reward (new supply) is cut in half creating scarcity, known as a halving event. Historically, prices have seen significant gains near the halving event. There will be a time where owning 1 or more bitcoin will be very valuable.
