What is Chainlink? (in 60 seconds)

Chainlink (LINK) is a blockchain agnostic (can be used on any blockchain) decentralized oracle utilizing the proof-of-stake (POS) consensus mechanism. In short, no one owns it (decentralized), and it works as a middleman (oracle) between blockchains and real world data. In the movie “The Matrix”, the oracle was the bridge between the humans and the simulated machine world. Similarly, Chainlinks oracle network works as the connection between smart contracts (blockchains) and real world data. Some notable partnerships are Oracle, and Google. Lastly, the Chainlink token is an ERC-20 token meaning it is built using the Ethereum platform.
