Greetings commanders!

We’ve got an exciting announcement for you all. CSC is coming to Steam! While not available for download yet, you can add it to your wishlist and be notified when it does go live. We will also be posting future dev updates and announcements on there as well. So not only can you stay up to date with us on Medium and Discord, but now Steam as well.

Follow us on Steam to stay notified!

What does being on Steam mean for CSC?

  1. Faster deployments and iteration on builds.
  2. Steam Achievements! Our current fleet ranks will be added as achievements in addition to a slew of others that will help distinguish earlier & new Commanders as the pioneers of the first true Player-Owned economy.
  3. Wider audience, we want everyone playing CSC and we believe distributing on this platform is one of the keys to do so.

What’s Next?

In the near future, we plan to release our first set of modules & new ships via our Galactic Federation Supply Crate sale. This distribution event is our way of seeding core items into the CSC universe in addition to continuing to fund the development of CSC (currently in Alpha with Early Access release on the horizon).

Modules are a key component to the CSC economy as they can significantly modify ships capabilities. With modules, players can specialize their ships beyond their initial configuration and hone in on what aspect of the CSC universe they want to partake in. Interested in mining? Then be on the lookout for the best mining lasers, scanner, and cargo expanders. Looking to be a titan of trading? Then cloaking devices, FTL multipliers, and a jump drive may be what you need. One other aspect of CSC’s module economy is loss. Unlike ships, modules have no insurance and can be completely lost in the destruction of a ship.

What’s Coming Soon

The website inventory and client inventory systems have gotten a full refresh. It is now easier to read and has more details. All stats are live and update in real time with the game client. So both online and in-game should always remain in sync.

In addition, the next release of CSC will include a functional Check-in /out system for our blockchain asset powered by Scarcity Engine (a set of tools we developed to make blockchain development of games easier). While this won’t be enforced in this release, we will start requiring CSC game assets to be checked in during gameplay in the future. More details on how this will work and when it will be required will come in future posts.

2019 Development Roadmap

This year will be a landmark year for CSC with many major milestones being hit. Most importantly will be our WIDE general release of the game which is tentatively set for July 2019. While there is much more needed to complete CSC as a whole, we feel strongly that enough of the game and economic tools will be in a ready and stable place later this year to allow players to come in and start building out this world. With this in mind, we have laid out the following tentative release milestones tied to features we are looking to have in each release.

Alpha 0.6 - Module, Ship Sales & Client Update

Alpha 0.62 - Mining persistence & Refining gameplay

Alpha 0.65 - Marketplace 2.0: A complete change to how current blockchain marketplaces work with a focus on supporting a true player-owned economy with little friction for all user.

Alpha 0.7 - Crafting 1.0: Our initial implementation of CSC crafting.

Alpha 0.8 - Missions, GRP rewards, and station services UI.

Alpha 0.9 - NPCs population & new star systems.

Alpha 1.0 - Wide release on Steam / Early Access (Tentativetly July 2019)

Alpha 1.1 - Something… ;-)

Alpha 1.2 - Expansion missions (colonist and workers game mechanic)

Alpha 1.3 - Contracting & automation gameplay

Alpha 1.4- Multi-ship / fleet Command & in-game clan management

Conclusion

Thanks, that’s all for now, our next update will be in a few days detailing specifics of our Galactic Federation Supply Sale and how it will work. Stay tuned!

Fly safe Commanders!
