Interview with the Disciplina team
Today, I have interviewed the Disciplina team on their ICO and future projects. Disciplina is developing a blockchain platform for education and recruiting. Disciplina is listed to organize a token sale in Q2–2018.
1) What problems are you solving by incorporating blockchain technology, and what are the main pillars that define your company and differentiate you from your competitors?
Education and recruiting fields today have a wide range of issues to be resolved, including the fragmented nature of data on academic achievement, the lack of trust in the system of education, the difficulty in cooperation between the parties of educational interrelations, and many other specific issues in each field.
During our analysis of the situation we realized that the most universal and convenient technological solution for all the currently existing issues is blockchain.
We could have used one of the already existing blockchain architectures, but there are some other issues there: public solutions cannot provide the necessary confidentiality of the stored data, and the private ones are not transparent enough.
Today there are many projects on the market that are developing blockchain platforms for the field of education. However, most of them are solving only isolated issues, such as digitalizing of the data, the development of smart-contracts for safe deals, etc.
As for our project, we are developing a universal blockchain that will solve all of abovementioned issues. DISCIPLINA will ensure the transparency of the activity of the services that are going to employ it and create conditions for maintaining the confidentiality and reliability of the information added by system participants.
2) What value are you adding to your industry value chain, and what are the main obstacles to the success of your solution?
We are creating our project for the educational and recruiting spheres. DICSIPLINA will be a multifunctional blockchain that allows for a unified register of academic achievement and qualifications and generates a scoring system for every user.
Moreover, we are developing our own blockchain architecture that consists of two elements: the private layer and the public layer. The private layer will store personal data of system participants, while the data in the public layer will be verified by the Witnesses that will confirm its validity.
The main obstacle to the success of our project is the absence of the appropriate solutions that suit our needs. Thus, we are making our own way by trial and error and developing our own blockchain from scratch.
3) Why did you decide to launch an ICO, and why do you need a public Token Sale?
We do not want one investor to own our blockchain as they would be able to set their own rules for DISCIPLINA’s activity. Our goal is to provide educational and recruiting spheres with a fully-featured tool that will not be affected by any single investor.
Thanks to the community support it will be possible to create a multifunctional blockchain with an open source code that can be used by anyone.
4) How does your token function within the platform and why is it needed? How did you decide the total supply and distribution among stakeholders?
The payment services on DISCIPLINA are the same as in other blockchains. The DSCP token is a cryptocurrency and our cooperation with Cryptopay will simplify its usage — the users will be able to convert DSCP tokens to fiat money through the co-branding plastic card.
DISCIPLINA will employ a PoS consensus algorithm. After the launch of MainNet, the token of ERC20 standard will be converted to native tokens and distributed in such a way that the share of the tokens sold during the crowdsale will be marginally than 50% of the total percentage of issued tokens. The percentage of tokens reserved for the project team and bounty campaign will increase the share up to 55%.
The other 45% of the tokens will be issued and sent to the technical pool. These tokens will be distributed between the participants (minters) with a constant reduction.
5) Where do you see the value of your token in the medium to long term and the ultimate benefit for the token holders?
Due to the fact that the number of tokens is initially limited, that there will be no additional issues, and the tokens will be used by the services that have integrated the DISCIPLINA blockchain into their technological processes, the token rate will grow alongside the amount of information stored in the blockchain and the demand for the tokens.
We do not promise dividends; the number of tokens will be fixed, and thus there will be no additional commission fee. The token price will only grow due to the growing demand for tokens.
6) Thinking about the future, what are your plans after the end of the ICO? Are you afraid that the volatility of the cryptocurrency market might affect the economics of your project in any way?
After the end of the ICO we will continue the development of DISCIPLINA. We are planning to launch the decentralized TestNet and MainNet in 2019. At the same time, we are working on the development of our other project, TeachMePlease. It is a marketplace that provides the conditions for the efficient and effective cooperation between academic institutions and private tutors, and their students. This is where the DISCIPLINA blockchain originates.
We understand that today there is somewhat of a panic on the cryptocurrency market. This can happen in every sphere, and this is not a reason to give up. Our team believes that the situation will become stable soon.
We strongly believe in the success of our project, as do many other people that we meet at different conferences. The current situation on the market can hardly affect that.
