Consumers that use Cloud’s Solana Archival Node can get details on each slot ever created. These queries may be used to create unique indexers and analytics products as well as to obtain historical address balances.

  • The history block and transaction data is served by the archive nodes.
  • Each node has “local” storage for current account information, which may be accessed via native RPC capability.
  • Account state at particular junctures in history cannot be accessed.

Builders may now access and validate data and transaction details from the Solana blockchain thanks to Query & Transact, a service that Coinbase Cloud previously released.

Solana Archival Nodes are a new addition to Coinbase Cloud’s product line today. Technically speaking, Solana’s high throughput architecture (about 2–3 blocks/sec) and big data footprint (around 100TB for all historical data) make managing archive nodes in a scalable manner problematic.

Featured Solana Archival Nodes:

  • Built for builders: Solana builders can get the necessary archive data and let Coinbase Cloud do the labor-intensive tasks.
  • Built using Solana knowledge: The Solana archive node infrastructure on Coinbase Cloud is constructed with a thorough understanding of the Solana network. On the Tour de Sol testnet, we ran one of the initial validators for Solana, and we have subsequently maintained infrastructure for validators and read/write nodes.
  • Infrastructure built on the cloud that is dependable: Coinbase Cloud’s multi-cloud, multi-region infrastructure is designed to reduce the risk of downtime and give you constant access to your data.
  • First and foremost, security: The architecture of Coinbase Cloud is designed to meet or surpass the security requirements of highly regulated institutions.
  • Designated support: Our customer success staff and engineers are available to help you manage your infrastructure.

A high-performance blockchain called Solana

Solana is an open source, high-performance, permissionless blockchain that prioritizes transaction throughput — the capacity to handle a significant number of transactions in a brief period of time — by utilizing highly scalable technology. Currently, Solana can handle more than 50,000 transactions per second.

Infrastructure that is safe, dependable, and simple to use is essential for the Solana ecosystem to continue to thrive. The high throughput capacity of Solana makes it ideal for a variety of use cases, including trading. To run a productive node, the high throughput capacity also calls for knowledge of developer operations and hardware choices. To control participation, nodes need strong hardware, incredibly high bandwidth, and substantial protocol knowledge.

The Solana team and Coinbase Cloud have worked closely together to maintain the network as it grows and scales safely. We ran one of the initial nodes in Tour de Sol, the rewarded testnet for Solana. Since the beginning of the mainnet beta, we have provided our customers with safe, tried-and-true validator infrastructure operated by knowledgeable protocol engineers and specialists to assist them handle the complexity of participation.

Using Solana Query & Transact, you may create apps and services by running dependable, secure read/write nodes

Developers that are interested in developing on Solana may easily operate read/write nodes, access data from the blockchain, and create programs and services that interface with Solana using Query & Transact.

Running nodes may be an expensive and time-consuming procedure, even for highly technical teams. To manage future fluctuations in throughput, it necessitates strong protocol understanding, remaining current with recent network developments, and growing infrastructure. Given its larger throughput capacity than other protocols, Solana read/write infrastructure is especially subject to these requirements.

This difficulty is eliminated by Coinbase Cloud’s Solana Query & Transact, which also makes it simpler to build atop Solana. Developers and businesses who are interested in creating apps and services that are linked to the Solana network may manage their infrastructure with ease from a single platform and scale it up fast in response to shifting throughput requirements.
