Maybe the Path is the Purpose
Ever tried to find your purpose?
I bet you’ve asked yourself questions like:
What am I here for?
Or what is my purpose? or destiny? Or assignment?
And we (as humans) answer this in so many ways, but this is perhaps the perspective I found most helpful — The Path is the Purpose.
I’ve met a ton of people that want to do the right thing. The thing they are called to do or their “destiny”
They think and soul search and even ask people around them questions like “What do you think I’m great at?”
And this can take forever because it’s a loop and a trick.
A trick to keep you searching but never doing or starting.
On the other hand, understanding that the path is the purpose is knowing that it doesn't matter what you do, it will lead somewhere, and you will discover something. And that will open the door to something else.
It’s knowing that every event or outcome is a pointer to better understanding yourself and what is next.
The trials. The failures. The successes.
Or… what is Elon Musk’s destiny? Or Barack Obama? Or Gary Vaynerchuk?
I once heard a dear friend tell me he doesn't believe in purpose but purposefulness. At first, I said… wahhh?
And then I understood that it’s on the path. It’s what we do with what we have now.
Everything we are looking for — the answers, the meaning, the greatness, it’s all on the path.
Where are you now?
What are you doing?
What’s possible?
What would you like to achieve next?
You don’t need more answers. Start there.
Life itself is a path, and we are simply walking.
If you think you’ve found your destiny, just keep walking.
There might be another.
