CryptoKitties releases a new Code of Ethics

When building CryptoKitties, we took numerous steps to ensure the health and autonomy of its rules and in-game economy. Each member of our team, from the outset, has been held to a strict set of policies governing how we build and play the game.

But regardless of the precautions we’ve taken, we recognize that our stewardship of CryptoKitties is subject to justified scrutiny.

So we thought it was time to formalize our policies in a Code of Ethics. And we’re sharing it with our community to highlight our commitment to transparency, our dedication to the integrity of the game, and to have a public blueprint by which we continue to hold our dedicated team accountable to our principles.

CryptoKitties team Code of Ethics

• CryptoKitties* team members must not buy or sell Kitties outside of transparent, decentralized marketplaces such as the official CryptoKitties marketplace.
• CryptoKitties team members must not make any public assessments or predictions about the monetary value of any present or future Kitties using privileged information for personal gain.
• CryptoKitties team members must not buy or breed Kitties for the purpose of chasing one of the first 50 of a limited edition Fancy.
• CryptoKitties team members must not buy or breed Kitties for the purpose of uncovering mutation jewels.
• If a CryptoKitties team member accidentally breeds a Fancy, the Team Member must immediately send the Fancy to the Great Kitty Farm in the Sky.**
• If a CryptoKitties team member accidentally uncovers a Diamond or Gilded mutation jewel***, the Team Member agrees to: a) immediately send that cat to the Great Kitty Farm in the Sky; and b) advise our Department of Infurnal Affairs that they uncovered a Diamond or Gilded mutation jewel within 1 week of the last transaction they conduct from their wallet.***
• For testing purposes only, publicly identified team members of the CryptoKitties community and development teams will have no restrictions placed on any of the Kitties they purchase, sell, or breed. This latitude is permitted only so public CryptoKitties team members can share the same in-game experience as our community.

**The Great Kitty Farm in the Sky is actually a transparent auction, in which the proceeds from each Kitty auctioned will be donated to charity by the CryptoKitties team.

***Uncovering either Amethyst or Lapis mutation jewels is fair game.
