CryptoKitties exist on the blockchain, but certain elements of the game are contained in a database managed by the CryptoKitties team. That’s because art generation is still really difficult to get onto the blockchain, expensive both computationally and literally. But it means that in order to interact with our API, developers in our community have to constantly scrape the API. There’s no other way to get cats and auction updates, since querying the blockchain doesn’t provide cat names, Family Jewels, or images.

Unfortunately, that constant interaction with our API is slowing things down for both sides. It’s on our to-do list to improve — and we want developers’ feedback to decide how!

We want to offer the best developer-oriented solution

We want to make sure that developers can sync from Kitty 1 to LAST EXISTING, query for auctions, and have data updated in a feasible way. That’s why we’ve launched a survey to help us get the lay of the land. If you’re a developer who has or is working on an app on the CryptoKitties API, please fill this out, and help us shape the future of the CryptoKitties API.

Fill out the survey now!*

(*please note: the survey is now closed. Thank you for your participation!)
