Environmental traits are here!

Sometimes we like to release new updates with a lot of fanfare, but every once in a while we think it’s fun to release a trait like a toy at the bottom of a box of cereal: sneaky, fun, and hopefully not a choking hazard.

That’s what happened last week with environmental traits!

CryptoKitties player Alxo had no idea what would pop out when they created Kitty 712768, the very first ever cat to display the salty Cattribute. When CryptoKitties first launched, there were four mysterious unfilled trait categories, and the community had no idea what purpose they served. Wild traits took one of those categories, and now we’ve revealed a second as holder of adorable environments for your Kitties to play inside! Underwater was the first environment launched, and more will follow in the coming weeks and months.

So why environments?

We released CryptoKitties with room to grow, and we always knew that environmental traits were on our timeline. We want your Kitties to feel dynamic and alive, and putting them into their own worlds helps achieve that vision. Where do you think your next Kitty might end up?
