You’re hopefully already familiar with Bella and her Dad’s amazing campaign, Kitties For A Cause. Bella is a CryptoKitties fan in the fourth grade who especially enjoys making new CryptoKitties and naming them. “One day while playing, I said we should give away some of our Kitties since we have so many of them,” Bella explains. “Dad asked who we should give them to. I told him kids in the hospital who are hurting.”

That idea spurred the creation of Kitties For A Cause (K4C). Instead of sending the cats directly to kids in the hospital, K4C decided to collect donated Kitties and auction them off. Well, K4C collected so many Kitties from our incredibly supportive community that they had to extend the auction by two weeks!

During the campaign, K4C heard from a CryptoKitties player whose niece had been a cancer patient at Seattle Children’s Hospital, and donated a very special kitty for the cause.

“Since I started playing [CryptoKitties] I’ve been intrigued and fascinated by the Trioculus trait, and I bred this one myself. It is a Gen 11, which 11 is my lucky number, and has lots of gems in its lineage. This Kitty also has pretty yellow traits (gold & lemonade) which are reminiscent of Spongebob, which we used to watch a LOT of with Sadie, and pink traits to represent a sweet little girl. The third eye, to me, represents Sadie’s ability to look past her illness and still see happiness and joy in the world around her. She had so much wisdom beyond her short years, I always felt like she could look past the sadness so much easier than any adult I know.”

The K4C team, in collaboration with KittyHats, decided to honour Sadie’s memory by releasing a special limited edition bubble wand — Sadie loved bubbles — with all proceeds going to K4C. One randomly chosen player who purchases the bubble wand will receive Sadie Lynn’s Kitty (pictured).

The auction is now closed, and we’re so thrilled to announce that the Seattle Children’s Hospital now has $15,052.91 USD to help sick kids in need. Bella will be presenting the money to hospital staff (possibly in the form of a giant cheque) on Friday, June 1st at 10:30am — so if you live in Seattle, feel free to stop by and give three cheers!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the campaign! You brought a lot of smiles to a lot of sick kids, and that’s something that can’t be quantified.
