Our shortest ever timed Fancy Cat chase led to one hot CryptoKitty

The ideas for our Fancy Cats come from all over the place. Sometimes they’re inspired by a holiday, or a time of year. Other times it’s a beloved cryptoexpert, or a freaking adorable animal that we just knew would look extra cute if it was immortalized forever as a Kitty hybrid.

So where did we get the idea of for a lava squid cat? That came from the wild and bright imagination of Mack’s five year old son, Roman. I think you’ll all agree we couldn’t have gotten that creative without him!

“Mwuahahaha! It was I, Squiddlesworth, all along! Beware petting me: I’m hot stuff. Actually, though, beneath my tough outer crust is a warm little cephalo-Kitty burning for affection. Just don’t call me spineless. The only thing that steams me more than that is getting splashed with water.”

Squiddlesworth is a special Fancy not just because of its origins. It’s also our first Fancy to be restricted to such a short breeding window — only 72 hours! We chased this red-hot squid at our regular Thursday Purrsday event, and it had disappeared back into its volcano by the end of the week. 1,510 Squiddlesworthes were unlocked during that window.
