The cryptocurrency world started 2019 on a more positive note compared with the last quarter of 2018. We’re already past the half way mark of February so we’ve looked at 3 other major cryptocurrencies and taken note of their latest news and updates.

Litecoin (LTC)
Earlier this month Litecoin, who were often dubbed “the silver to Bitcoin” (being gold) has seen some steady growth. Many experts attribute such growth to the Litecoin’s partnership with a software development firm called Beam. Such partnership sets out to explore a brand new protocol called “Mimblewimble” that seeks out to improve both privacy and scalability.

In the past week, there were bold moves above the $40.00 resistance in Litecoin’s price against the US dollar. The LTC/USD pair gained some traction, surpassed the $42.00 resistance and traded towards the $45.00 resistance area. According to experts, the peer-to-peer cryptocurrency’s price is facing a strong resistance around the $45.00 mark against the US dollar. LTC remains self sufficient and has come a long way since early beginnings 7 years ago.

Global payments organisation Remitly, who are responsible for transferring more than $6 billion per year through their customers’ person-to-person international money transfers are joining force with Ripple. Both forces are discussing how they can implement Ripple’s cross-border payment solutions. The plan is to integrate Ripple’s blockchain technology into their financial transaction services.

In a recent media conference, Matthew Oppenheimer, the CEO and co-founder of Remitly, spoke in detail about his vision:

Tron turned many heads last year after acquiring BitTorrent; the largest file-sharing network in the world. This deal was estimated at around $120 million and it seems the price may be well invested. Since then, Tron have managed to integrate BitTorrent into its ecosystem, and so far so good. Since their collaboration, the blockchain announced news of BitTorrent’s BTT token which is now listed on 16 exchanges.

In other news, Tron’s “Global Community”, The Tron Foundation teamed up with the ALS Association. The American charity hope to raise public awareness about the ALS disease to raise funds to fund the search for the cure of the disease. Tron founder and CEO, Justin Sun donated $250,000 to the cause.
