This week The Litecoin Foundation announced news of their new partnership with a premier kickboxing league.

The Kickboxing powerhouse are known as “Glory”; they organise world championship level kickboxing and martial arts match ups and place them on global platforms. They also establish new match-ups between fighters and have signed heavyweights including “Dutch Lumberjack” Peter Aerts and“The Flying Gentleman” informally known as Remy Bonjasky.

So what are they doing with Litecoin?
Litecoin will be the official cryptocurrency accepted as a payment method on Glory’s online merchandise platform, “Gloryshop”. Consumers across the US and within Europe will have the option to use Litecoin to access exclusive offers such as athlete meet-and-greets, backstage tours, limited edition merchandise and premium seating.

What exactly is Litecoin?
Litecoin (LTC) is a peer-to-peer currency that enables instant payments all over the world. Litecoin is an open source, global payment network that is decentralised and doesn’t have central authorities. So you can fully control your own finances. LTC features lower transaction confirmation times and improved storage efficiency compared to other cryptocurrencies. What does this collaboration mean?
A lot. This is a very interesting collaboration and time will tell how it pans out. This is yet another example of a cryptocurrency joining forces with a mainstream organisation and shows how easily crypto can be integrated within an already existing industry that, on paper, is very different.

Litecoin will gain global exposure across Glory events, broadcasting channels and social media. More mainstream attention means more interest in Litecoin and creating a more consumer friendly brand image for major cryptocurrencies in general.

In Litecoin’s official press release they explain that such partnerships are opportunities to “tap into passionate audiences around the globe and educate them on the power of Litecoin”.

“GLORY has a growing worldwide fan base that consists in large part of a younger demographic who are early adopters of technology and conduct much of their lives online — from consuming content to purchasing products. As GLORY continues to grow, tapping into their global audience and educating them about Litecoin through real world use cases can be powerful. ” — Charlie Lee, Founder, Litecoin
