Cryptopia is now on Medium

Hello Cryptopians, and thank you for joining us on Medium. Over the coming months we’ll be sharing industry news, site updates, and educational tools with you here, but our first article will take you back to our humble beginnings. Here’s the story of Cryptopia: where we started, and who we are today.

Our Story
Cryptopia began as the dream of Adam Clark and Rob Dawson in December 2014. Back then, it was just a small project run by two people in a software development office in Christchurch, New Zealand.

We grew steadily over the years, until in January 2017 Rob and Adam realised that they needed more power, from both man and machine. By this time Cryptopia had gained over 30,000 active users; demand was high, and they needed to keep up. They quit their day jobs in order to devote all their time to their project, brought in some more help, and invested in much heavier tech than what they had access to before. And it’s a good thing they did, too, because Cryptopia’s userbase only continued to grow and a massive boom was on the horizon.

This came in the November 2017-January 2018 quarter, as cryptocurrency gained unprecedented popularity across the globe. The number of registered Cryptopia users grew by over 940% in this quarter. As demand grew, so did the team. We had a lot of work to do, and finally managed to hit our 24-hour support ticket resolution target at the end of May 2018.

Cryptopia Now
We are still growing to this day. Throughout 2018 we invested heavily in infrastructure, customer support, management and development staff. We just moved into a new, bigger office building, and we are still busily preparing ourselves for a bright future for the crypto industry. As we come to the end of 2018 we are working on making Cryptopia a truly World Class platform. We currently provide the world’s largest range of coins, and our aim is for Cryptopia to become the safest and most reliable cryptocurrency exchange on the market. We have over 100 employees in two countries who are making continuous improvements and offering customers 24/7 support. Transparency is also a key priority: A recent report by the Blockchain Transparency Institute named Cryptopia as one of the only global exchanges to be accurately reporting their trading volumes.
