Week 2

What did you do this past week?

This week was easily the most productive week I have ever had as long as I can remember. I was able to take care of all of the important things that I had piled up and I had enough time to complete the readings for this class, although it was after the quiz that tested the reading materials. I also spent some time trying to structure my plans on how to complete the assignments for each class I am taking this semester without starving other non-academic activities.

What’s in your way?

The only thing that stands in my way this week and probably this semester as a whole is getting into the right frame of mind to read without falling asleep. I find it hard to read something I have to read but I would not be reading otherwise. Once I solve this problem, I will be looking at a wonderful fall semester.

What will you do next week?

I plan to catch up on the required readings for my history classes which are currently piling up, unfortunately. Before I can catch up on these readings, I have to figure out a way to get my hands on one of the required texts which are not available at the Co-op. I also plan to incorporate interview prep into my workflow week in, week out until I get a job offer that I really want. Last but not the least, I intend to start and hopefully complete the Collatz project and the other workflow items this week.

What’s your experience of the class?

This class is turning out exactly how I expected it to be, drawing from my experience in OOP. It is as engaging as I expected and Prof. Downing still manages to keep my attention when explaining the topics even though I have some prior knowledge about the topic from last semester. There are no complaints here.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is “start early”! The project description might seem really straightforward after a quick glance through and you may be tempted to push the start date forward. This may work out for you but it could also go very badly if you run into any obscure bug and there is not enough time to debug successfully.
